Alongside my professional practice, I support a range of voluntary and community-led projects. These are usually small, place-based initiatives with local impact, from supporting Friends groups and heritage volunteers to fostering creative networks and community events. This work is important to me: it keeps me grounded in the communities I serve and connected to the cultural life of the district.
In summer 2024, I volunteered to work with Lesley Hall to create a Midsummer Wildflower Survey for the Friends of Priory Park. The aim was to map and celebrate the park’s seasonal biodiversity, offering an accessible snapshot of the species that thrive there at the height of summer and supporting the group’s wider efforts to champion the park’s natural heritage.
Following the success of the Priory Pixie Trail, I designed, coordinated and delivered the Priory Park Elf Trail, a playful, family-friendly winter activity created to encourage residents and visitors to explore the park in a new way. Working closely with Friends of Priory Park, I developed the trail concept, produced multiple illustrated panels, shaped the narrative, and oversaw installation and delivery. The project not only increased footfall during a quieter season, but also strengthened community engagement and raised the profile of the park’s heritage and wildlife. It’s a small but meaningful example of how creative interventions can activate green spaces and bring people together.
The Priory Park Pixie Trail was the first in a series of playful, self-guided trails I created to help families explore the park in a more imaginative and engaging way. I developed the concept, designed the characters and panels, coordinated production, and managed installation throughout the site. Delivered in partnership with Friends of Priory Park, the trail offered a low-cost, high-impact way to introduce new audiences to the park’s heritage and natural features. Its success laid the groundwork for subsequent trails, such as the later Elf Trail, and demonstrated how simple creative interventions can animate green spaces and strengthen community connection.
Friends of Priory Park work together to protect and preserve the park for future generations. I produced an interactive Google map, which aims to enhance the visitor experience of this much loved but underutilised asset. It includes archive photographs and information on the trees, plants and wildlife. It's a work in progress.
Working alongside artist James Braddell (Funki Porcini), I have helped shape and position Laserium for touring and presentation. My role has been to develop a clear producer’s framework for the work, translating its unique analogue artistry into a format that venues, festivals, and galleries can easily understand and programme. This has involved defining the creative concept, technical requirements, and audience potential, and preparing a comprehensive pack that supports its promotion and future touring opportunities.
I was invited to sit on the Warwick Institute of Engagement's selection panel for their new Collaboration and Co-production Fund in 2024 and 2025. This fund supports University of Warwick staff to develop ongoing strategic relationships with local, regional, and national public partners. In time, these relationships will lead to Co-production of, and collaboration in, research projects, innovation programmes and strategy, as well as collaboration on the discussion of research outcomes and the co-organisation of public engagement events.
